Ivanne Estelle Farr

Ivanne Estelle Farr, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 3, 2014 in Del Rio, Texas. After a valiant battle with a long illness, she went home to be with her true Father in heaven in the most peaceful way. Ivanne was born on Feb. 7, 1940 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late F. Lynnwood and Leone Seedig Farr. She graduated from Texarkana High School in 1957 and attended Southwest Texas State University. After marrying, she raised her three children in Corpus Christi. Ivanne merged her love of the earth’s natural treasures, her God-given talent of artistry and inherited entrepreneurship, and founded her jewelry studio, Ivanne Et Cie, Inc. in Corpus Christi in 1976. She designed one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces for clients throughout south Texas and all over the world.

James Leslie Pruett

Funeral services for James Leslie (JL) Pruett, 73, of Clifton, were held Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Gospel Light House with Pastor Sherry Pierce officiating. Interment was at Clifton Cemetery. James Pruett was born on Feb. 9, 1941, in Killeen, to William Leslie (Bill) Pruett and Imodean Carlisle. He passed away at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. He attended school in Belton. On Aug. 14, 1962, he married Nancy Helen Pierce Pruett. The couple had three children. He was self-employed and was a heavy machine operator. He had lived in Belton, Clifton and Meridian and his church affiliation was Pentecostal. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He also loved telling jokes, making people laugh and watching John Wayne movies. He was preceded in death by his father, William Leslie Pruett, his mother, Imodean Carlisle Pruett; and a sister, Opal Dean Jackson.

Ollie Faye Veteto

Ollie Faye Veteto, 90, more commonly known as Memaw, of Valley Mills, went to meet her savior Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at Regent Care Center in Waco. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 8, at Searsville Country Church in Valley Mills with Dr. Lynn Parks and Rev. Richard Rust officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to Searsville Country Church in Valley Mills, Texas. Faye was born July 6, 1924 in Mosheim. She was a loving mother and wife who spent many years traveling the country as a dedicated pastors wife. In later years, Faye and her husband opened up a successful furniture and appliance store in Clifton. After the death of her husband, she worked at Foss Funeral Home and volunteered at the Valley Mills Care Center for many years. Faye enjoyed playing the piano and sharing Gods word with friends, family and strangers.

Sid Rod McCoy

Sid “Chub” Rod McCoy, age 90, of Iredell died Dec. 1, 2014, at his home with his wife of 32 years, Pam, by his side. Funeral services were held Dec. 5 at the First Baptist Church in Iredell. Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico is handling the services and online condolences can be expressed at harvesthillsfuneralhome.com. The youngest of nine children, he was born Nov. 6, 1924 in Chalk Mountain to the late Ruben Sidney and Julia Ardella McCoy. He married Pamela Louise Leonard Nov. 3, 1982. He was a farmer and rancher in Iredell for most of his life. He was known for his dry sense of humor and his ability to poke fun at the rest of the coffee drinkers in the various cafes in Iredell. But above all, he was a hard working family man. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jeff (Katherine) Williams, and Justin (Shanna) McCoy; a daughter, Jessica Annie-Lori (Jeremy) Luker; three grandsons; and six granddaughters.

Dola Lee Burreson Blum

Funeral services for Dola Lee Burreson Blum, 91, were held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Clifton with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Dola Lee Burreson was born on Oct. 27, 1923, to Palmer Burreson and Mabel Burroughts Burreson in Sulphur, OK. She passed away on Nov. 22, 2014, at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Home in Clifton. She was one of six children born into the Burreson farming family. She grew up in the Central Texas area where she attended Cranfills Gap School. She married Earon William Blum in Coryell City at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Aug. 24, 1940. Two daughters were born to this marriage. The couple made their home in the Jonesboro area. She worked as a seamstress for Walls Manufacturing for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member for a long time at First Baptist Church of Cranfills Gap. After her husband passed away, she moved from their farm to Clifton in 1996.

Jack Hinton

Jack B. Hinton, age 72, of Valley Mills passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, in a Waco hospital surrounded by family and friends. Funeral servicea were held Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Valley Mills First United Methodist Church where he was an active member. Interment was at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Valley Mills. Jack was born Nov. 3, 1942, in Valley Mills, to Henry and Reba Odle Hinton. On Aug. 2, 1963, he married Jane Anderson. They had two daughters Jamey and Jackie. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jack was employed by Hercules (Alliant Techsystems, Inc.) for 30 years, retiring in 1997. In his younger years, he was a volunteer for the Valley Mills Fire Department and a member of the Valley Mills City Council. He loved hunting, fishing, working at the Organic + Nursery and attending every event his two granddaughters participated in.

Veleta M. Phillips

Veleta M. Phillips, age 93, of Iredell, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 23, 2014, at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with David Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Veleta was born June 22, 1921, in Iredell, Texas, where she was raised and educated. She had lived within an eight mile radius of Iredell all of her life. On June 26, 1938, she was married to Clarence Weldon “Peck” Phillips in Meridian. Veleta had three great passions in life: her home, flowers and cooking. She kept a very clean house and was very proud of having the prettiest yard in town. She loved flowers of all kinds. Veleta loved to cook for her family and friends. She became famous for her pies. She always knew everyone’s favorite. She worked for the Iredell I.S.D. as a teacher’s aide for 13 years and retired from there in 1990. Veleta loved spending time with all the children in school.

Matilda R. Rice

Matilda R. Rice, age 97, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 25, 2014, in a Clifton nursing facility. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in the Meridian First United Pentecostal Church with Joe Huffman, Greg Hardin and Tim Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs. Serving as pallbearers will be William C. Rice, Jr., Shane Rice, Jay Brown, Christopher Rice, Curtis Rice, Glenn Cogburn, Randy Rice and Tyler Stubbs. Matilda was born Aug. 20, 1917, near Cranfills Gap, Texas. She married Hubert G. Rice on June 16, 1934, in Walnut Springs, Texas, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1998. She was a homemaker and a very active and faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church in Meridian. She is survived by her children, Thelma L. White and husband, Gerald, of Lincoln, NE, William C. Rice, Sr. and wife, Marcia Jean, of Clifton, Rebekah J. Elmore and husband, Nathan, of Arlington, Susan L.

Carmel Woosley

Carmel “Carmen” Woosley, age 66, of Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at her residence. Funeral Services were held Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at the Bosque County Cowboy Church between Meridian and Clifton on SH # 6 with Tater Paschal, Henry Cortez, and Rudy Cortez officiating. Interment was in the Meridian Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Manuel Villarreal Jr., Martin Del Bosque, Valentin Cerna, Gonzalo Cerna, Adam Sanchez, Ben Rodriguez. Carmel Martinez was born on Aug. 19, 1948 in Mathis to Gilberto and Matea Olivarez Martinez. She worked as a seamstress for several years for Walls in Clifton worked as a self employed seamstress and later for Zapata’s Restaurant in Meridian. She was a member of the Bosque County Cowboy Church.

Annie Nell Terrell

Funeral services for Annie Nell “Kelley” Terrell of Clifton were held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at the Grand Old Gospel Lighthouse Church with Brother Welton Watson officiating. Burial was at Clifton Cemetery. Annie Nell Kelley was born on June 26, 1938, to Bearey and Nellie Kelley. She passed away on Nov. 22, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Terrell, her father and mother, four brothers, four sisters, and three grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Fields and husband, Kennth of Fitch; Kenneth Terrell Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Meridian, Danny Crouch and wife, Deborah of Clifton, Jackie “Sam” Crouch of Clifton, Roy Crouch of Gatesville and James Crouch of Clifton; two brothers, Charles Kelleyof Grandbury and Harvey Kelley and wife, Mickie of  Gatesville; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
