Elaine Hardie Reed

Elaine Hardie Reed, of La Union NM, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 11, 2015. Elaine was born Nov. 24, 1934 in Coryell County. After graduating from Clifton High School, she moved to El Paso in 1954, and finally settled in La Union, NM in 1970. Elaine  was very active in the Anthony United Methodist Church, the Dona Ana County Republican Party, and various charitable organizations. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, B.W. Hardie  and Alice Huskerson Hardie, and son Walter Claud Reed.She is survived by siblings; Bettye H. Dunlop (husband,  Carl) of Clifton TX and Claud W. Hardie (wife, Jan) of Mineola,and by her children; Patricia E. Roderick of La Union NM, J. Dean Reed (wife, Vicki) of North Richland Hills, and John C. Reed. Elaine is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela Roderick Wright, (husband Todd) of Dallas, D.D.

Robert M. Bowen

Robert M. Bowen, age 51, of Morgan, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 17, 2015, at his residence. A memorial funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, in  the Lawson Funeral Home Chapelin Meridian. Robert was born July 16, 1963, on the Wright Air Force Base in  Ohio. He was a son of Robert LewisBowen and the late Frankie Sue Causey Bowen. He moved at a young age to Burleson, where he attended school and graduated. For most of his life he had worked in the steel production industry and was presently working for Gerdau American Steel in Midlothian. On Nov. 16, 2006, he was married to Tammy Lynn Moore in Meridian. Robert was a true outdoorsman and loved everything close to nature. He is survived by his wife, Tammy, of Morgan; children, Jennifer Richmond and husband, Wayne, of Morgan, Britteny Scott of Colorado; parents, Robert and Carolyn Bowen of Morgan; brothers, Jerry Wayne Bowen and wife, Rebecca, of Morgan, Michael Olier of Ft.

Penny Lee Steinke

Penny Lee Ridlehuber Steinke, age 71, of Valley Mills passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 in Valley Mills. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Penny was born on Oct. 19, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas, to Walter (Tom) and Willma (Dunken) Ridlehuber. She grew up in Mart, and graduated from Mart High School. Penny worked several years at the Veteran Affairs Regional Office in Waco. She was preceded in death by her mother. Among the family and friends who will miss her greatly are: her father, Walther Tom Ridlehuber; brother, Tom Ridlebuber and wife Lori; sisters, Mary Cheney and husband Doug, Rosalyn Eugster and husband Donny; sons, Shawn Steinke, Eric and wife, Sheryl Hull Steinke; grandchildren, Kristoph Baker, Chelsea Baker, Maggie Steinke; great-grandson Jaxon Baker; and long time friend Gail Nutt.

Richard Thiele, Jr.

Richard Thiele Jr., (better known as Junior), 77, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 21, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco with Bro. Jerry Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Junior was born May 26, 1937, in Valley Mills, to Richard and Louise Thiele. He graduated from Lorena High in 1956. He enjoyed farming, gardening, cigars, pickup trucks, spending time with friends and family and he especially loved being outdoors. His children remember him being a hard worker, and always helping out friends and family who were sick by using reflexology. They remember him going home to his parent’s farm in Lorena, so he could continue to help on the farm as it became harder on his parents.

Roland Patterson

R.G. “Pat” Patterson, 83, of Valley Mills, passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A graveside service was held at Rockwood Cemetery, in Rockwood, on Feb. 18, 2015 with Rev. Collins Steward officiating. Roland Glen Patterson was born Jan. 12, 1932 in Clifton, to Roscoe and Castell Patterson. He attended Clifton High School, and then joined the Marines in 1951 to 1954. In 1955 he married Kay Steward. They were blessed with two children. They lived in Shreveport, LA for 33 years and then retired from Kansas City Southern Transport Rail Road in 1995 to Valley Mills. Roland was a member of the Baptist church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 plus years. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Roland was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Castell Patterson.

Estelle Hill

Estelle Hill, 87, of Clifton passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 11, 2015 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Clifton with Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Interment will follow at Clifton Cemetery. Funeral Home Chapel. Anna Estelle Langston was born on June 3, 1927 in Ft. Worth, TX to parents, Robert Curtis Langston and Annie Finstad Langston. She moved to Clifton with her family at the age of three and lived there most of her 87 years. She graduated from Clifton High School and married Jack Hill of Clifton, in 1943. Carol Badger Holder

Carol Badger Holder, 90, of Clifton passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Graveside services were held Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Clifton Memorial Park in Clifton with Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Mrs. Holder laid in state at the Clifton Funeral Home Saturday and Sunday. Family and friends gathered at Isbell’s Restaurant, following the service. Carol Badger Holder was born in New Hampshire on Sept. 5, 1924. She embodied the classic New  England values of hard work, personal responsibility, civic duty and as she would say, “minding your own business.”
