George Wallace Mahn, Jr.

Funeral Mass for George Wallace Mahn, Jr., 65, will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton on Wednesday, March 20 at 10 a.m. Military graveside rites will follow. Mahn passed away on March 14, 2013. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri and attended St. Andrew’s School in Leman, and then graduated from Hancock High School. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army, earning the Army Medal of Accommodation among others. After returning from Korea he joined his father as a general contractor in George Mahn and Son. He later served as a councilman for the city of Pacific, Missouri. He spent his retirement years fishing, boating and gardening at his home in Laguna Park.

Dorothy Kruegar Mansur

Dorothy Bernice Krueger Mansur passed away peacefully in a Clifton nursing facility on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013, at the age of 91. Funeral services were held Friday, March 15, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton with Pastor Brian McQuiggin officiating. Dorothy was a retired telephone company employee in Waco and Clifton and a devoted housewife and volunteer. She was born April 5, 1921, in Bosque County to Will Sr. and Hilda Rachuig Krueger, and was baptized into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was confirmed in 1934 at Immanuel by Pastor G.A. Obenhaus. On April 17, 1949, she married Hans Mansur in services conducted by Hans’ father at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church east of Clifton. They were faithful and untiring members of Immanuel until failing health caused them to move from their home on Hillcrest Avenue to the Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in 2005. Dorothy will be remembered for her exuberance and love of life.

Leonard Humphries

Leonard Humphries of Valley Mills died March 14, 2013. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 17, 2013 in First Baptist Church in Clifton. Burial was at the Turnersville Cemetery. He was born Feb. 11, 1956 to Garland and Lavaine Humphries. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1974. He married Patsy Nichols on February 23, 1973. He was an exceptional carpenter and worked for numerous construction companies in Waco over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson and watching Nascar with his friend David. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Humphries, his father, Garland Humphries and his daughter, Laurie Brown and granddaughter, Katie Brown. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wayne Earl New

Wayne Earl New, 68, the “Cow-Town Boy,” passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, in The Woodlands. Wayne Earl was the “baby boy” of Buford E. New and Bobbie I. New, who preceded him in death. Wayne had been involved in the Riverside Neighborhood Association, American Legion, VFW and ceramics classes with his mother, Bobbie. Wayne enjoyed parades, riding on trains, Easter egg hunts, July 4th celebrations and his family fellowships for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Wayne spent the last few years of his life in the Houston area. He learned to travel with his first cousin, Linda, and her husband, Jim. He was a natural-born patriot, a lover of all kinds of music and an active participant in church services with his family. Wayne was well-loved and he had a great life. His “bestest friend in the whole wide world” was Miss Allie Talbert. Allie is now 7 years old and she has always loved Wayne Earl. Allie is Wayne’s third cousin on his maternal side. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
