Ronald L. Chatfield

(SFC) United States Army retired, Ronald L. Chatfield, 73, of Clifton, Texas and former longtime resident of Meridian, passed away Friday Oct. 3, 2014 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services were held Tuesday Oct. 7, 2014 at the Bosque County Cowboy Church, Clifton, with Pastor Tater Paschal officiating. Interment will follow at the Meridian Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers were Randy Hancock, Joshwa Chatfield, Dustin Chatfield, Matthew Chatfield, Daniel Gibson, and D.J. Segar. Ronald Chatfield was born Oct. 14, 1940 in Franklin Furnace, Ohio to Joseph and Rosie King Chatfield. He served with the U. S. Army and retired after 20 years of service. Ronald received the Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster; National Defense Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze 5 Loops.

Ben Wilson Trotter

Graveside services for Ben Wilson Trotter, 95, were held Monday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with Pastor Doug Nemitz, Alicia Thompson-Summers and David Johnson officiating. Ben Wilson Trotter was born on March 31, 1919, in Tom Bean, TX, to Tillie Hopkins Trotter and Tone G. Trotter. He passed away at Goodall-Witcher Hospital on Sept. 28, 2014. He had been a resident at the Heckman unit at Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton. He attended Tom Bean High School and Clifton Junior College. He married Voleta Schulze on Nov. 7, 1945. He was preceded in death by both is wife and their son, John Wayne Trotter. After his military service in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945, he lived in Clifton. He worked for E.E. Stewart Motors and at the Clifton Post Office (1954-1979). He enjoyed reading and volunteering when his health allowed. He was a kind and gentle man and was loved and admired by all who knew him. He was a member of the VFW, National Assoc.

Joe Truett Lightsey

Joe Truett Lightsey, age 79, of Jonesboro passed away from this life on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 to be with his Heavenly Father. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Jonesboro Baptist Church. Burial followed at Jonesboro Cemetery. Joe was born on Dec. 13, 1934 in Pidcoke, Texas to Truett and Susie Lightsey. His family moved to Jonesboro when he was seven, and he graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1952. Joe graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree, and also took other courses at Tarleton State University. He served in the National Guard. He worked for General Tire and later for Cardinal Chemical Company. He married Flo Miller on Nov. 22, 1966, and they moved back to Jonesboro where Joe taught school and was principal of the Jonesboro School. He loved to teach his students and enjoyed all the extra-curricular activities at school where he made many friends. He was also a rancher and loved to work with his cattle.

Esther Maurine Ulland Wehe Clements

Esther Maurine Ulland Wehe Clements, born Jan. 19, 1944 in Bay City, died Sept. 22, 2014 in Keller. At the time of her death, she resided with her husband, George, in Burleson. Maurine is pre-deceased by her parents: Andrew Bert Ulland and Lila Pauline Hoff of Clifton, She was married to and is survived by George Clements of Burleson. They married July 25, 1998 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She also is survived by: her sons, Nolan Wehe and his wife Kristie of Austin, Rodney Wehe and his wife, Kauy and their sons, Ryan and Caden of Keller; a sister, Irene Hoeldtke of Valley Mills; and step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Pam Clements of Richardson; Keith Clements and his wife, Jackie and their children, Jonathan Mohler and his wife, Elizabeth and their children, Deryk and Alexys; Frank Boehler and Stacy McPherson and her children Courtlyn and Ethan Martin; and Zakery Boehler all of Waxahatchie; and Keith’s daughter, Brittney Clements of Naples, FL.

Denise McGrath Symank

Denise McGrath Symank, age 63 of Valley Mills passed away peacefully from this world, Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014. Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends in Waco, Texas or the charity of your choice. Denise McGrath was born Feb. 1, 1951, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. She was a 1969 graduate of Crawford High School. She had lived in the Crawford - Valley Mills area most of her life. She was formerly employed at Word Inc. and had retired from Smead Manufacturing due to health reasons. Denise loved to paint. But most of all, Denise loved her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul McGrath. Survivors include her mother, Louise McGrath of Valley Mills; son: Ryan Symank and wife, Katy of San Antonio, and a granddaughter, Lexi of San Antonio. Darla Frances Geeslin

Darla Frances Geeslin, age 57 of Coppell, died Aug. 29, 2014. A funeral mass was held Sept. 3, 2014 at the Church of the Apostles in Coppell with interment at Austin Memorial Park in Austin.She was born to Frances Payne  Wallace and D.E. Wallace on April 4, 1957 in Floydada. She graduated with distinction honors from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU Cox School of Business.She was most recently a Senior Vice President for Pegasus Bank, and was with Comerica Bank/Grand Bank for 23 years prior. She will be dearly missed by her husband, David Geeslin of Coppell; son, Jefferson E.Geeslin of Tyler; son, Garrett C. Geeslin of College Station; brother, Wayne Wallace of Meridian; sister Sue Hammonds, of Killeen; brother, Larry Wallace of Clifton; sister, Shirley Ogle of Meridian and brothers, William Wallace and Payton Wallace, both of Meridian.

Kristie Lynn Lynch-Huffman

Funeral services for Kristie Lynn Lynch-Huffman, 25, was held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Grand Ole Gospel Lighthouse in Clifton with Sherry Pierce officiating. Interment was at Clifton Memorial Park. Kristie Lynn Lynch was born on May 19, 1989, in Galveston, to Sonia Kerby Honea and Tony Honea. She attended school at Clifton Independent School District. She married Derrick Huffman on March 15, 2008, in Clifton. She was a mother and housewife. The couple had two children. She was involved in her children’s school, sports, and activities. She enjoyed playing and loving with her girls, spending time with family, making bows, and helping others. She was full of life and always had a smile on her face. She put other’s needs first and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bud Kerby; grandmothers, Kathy Lynch and Gracie Toten; great-grandparents, Aline Chapman and Archie Chapman.

Sandra Jean Mickelson Sinor

Sandra Jean Mickelson Sinor, 71, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in Arlington. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church, in Arlington. Graveside Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Olaf Cemetery, on the grounds of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, known as The Old Rock Church, Cranfills Gap. Jean was born April 17, 1943, in Meridian to Floyd and Virgie Mickelson. She moved to Arlington in the sixth grade. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1961, where she was a Colt cheerleader. Jean was voted sweetheart of the Key Club, was a member of the choir and drama club, and named “October Girl” by the Arlington Citizen Journal while in high school. She retired from Bell Helicopter Textron and spent her retirement years enjoying her family, especially her granddaughter, Sydney. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Virgie Mickelson.

Audrey Amundson Pierson

A celebration of life worship service for Audrey Amundson Pierson, 80, was held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse, where she was a tireless servant of the Lord for many years, on Sept. 11, 2014. Since February, she has battled chronic heart failure, pneumonia, and lung and kidney failure. She fought hard with a great attitude, but passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Providence Hospital. Audrey Amundson was born near Meridian on Sept. 1, 1934, to Belvin and Sadie Carlson Amundson. She is the great-granddaughter of early Norwegian immigrants Ole and Anne Pierson and Jess and Tonya Jenson who settled in the Norse community in 1854. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She had two brothers, Curtis and Sammie Joe Amundson and one sister, Wanda Amundson Ray. She loved her family dearly. Her family moved to Clifton in the early 1940’s and she started school in 1941.

Shirley Margaret Owen Dove

Funeral service was held for Shirley Margaret Owen Dove, 71, on Sept. 4, 2014, at Clifton Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Lucas Berk. Interment was at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery. She passed away on Sept. 1, 2014. Shirley Margaret Owen was born on July 21, 1943, in Texas City. She was the daughter of O.B. and Geneva Owen. She was married to Rodger Dove. She was preceded in death by Rodger Dove Sr., O.B. Owen, Gneva Owen, and Bobby Owen. Survivors include Wendell Johnson Jr., Jimmy Johnson and wife, Debbie; Roger Johnson and wife, Deborah; Noland Johnson and wife, Debbie; Rodger Butch Dove Jr. and wife, Wendy; and Obie Dove. Also, grandchildren Matt Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Mistir Johnson, Lauryn Johnson, Eric Johnson, Austin Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Dannelle Johnson, Hunter Johnson and James Johnson, and two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Alethia.
