Mary Heyen

Mary Heyen, 60, of Clifton, passed away at her home on July 14, 2015. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 17, 2015, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney with Rev. Philip C. Wottrich, officiating. Burial followed at Whitney Memorial Park. A  visitation was held Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Mary was born on Feb. 18, 1955, in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Frank Owen and Virginia Lee Palmer. On July  31, 1991, she married Randall Heyen in Fort Worth. She worked in the cleaning business for about 35 years and the last 20 years as owner/operator of Heyen Cleaning Service. Going to garage sales was a favorite activity and she collected  nick-nacks. Since she never met a stranger, she was always willing to help anyone in need.  She loved her family unconditionally. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pat Perry Duncan

The Lord called Pearl Harbor Survivor, Pat Perry Duncan, at the age of 92, to his higher service the evening of July 13, 2015. Graveside services with military honors were held on Saturday, July 18, at Our Savior Lutheran Cemetery in Norse, Texas at 3 p.m.  Visitation was Thursday evening at Galloway FuneralHome. Funeral Services were at First Baptist Church, Beeville, on July 17, 2015.  He was born Feb. 22, 1923 in Meridian, Texas. He married Carol Matson on Nov. 30, 1941. After her passing, he married Penny Terry on Dec. 2, 2007 and moved to Beeville. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and  Mary Duncan, and sister, Bernice Cosper. Pat is survived by his daughter, Jan Duncan; his son, Bill (Paula) Duncan, his step-daughter, Theresa (Jack) Allen; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Arthur Birdwell

Arthur Birdwell, of Clifton, formally of Austin, passed away on July 7 at home. Arthur was born at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas on Feb. 17, 1931 to James Arthur and Esther Christine Birdwell. Following graduation from Austin High School in 1951, Arthur served two years in the Military Police, U.S. Army, and was stationed mainly at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio,  Texas. Upon release from the service, Arthur Married Rebecca Moore of Llano, Texas in 1953. They moved back to Austin to begin their married life.Arthur worked for Texas Electric Cooperatives, the U.S. Postal Service, Tracor, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he retired in 1996. He was preceded in death by both his parents and inlaws; a step-brother, Jimmie Lee Birdwell; and a brother, Joe Morris Birdwell.

James Ronny Riggs

James Ronny Riggs, age 60, of Clifton passed away on Sunday morning, July 12, 2015 in Clifton. Funeral serviceswill be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Clifton with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be  yle Riggs, Codie Riggs, Tim Case and Cole Word. Burial will follow at Clifton Cemetery. Ronny was born on Aug. 17, 1954 in Canyon, to Jimmyand Jane ( Jones) Riggs. He was a 1972 graduate of Clifton High School and completed his education with his graduation from Stephen F. Austin University. Following school, he worked for Chemical Lime Company in Clifton. Ronny was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Riggs, and his brother, Randy Riggs, in 1995. He is survived by his daughter, Dana Riggs Case and husband, Tim; granddaughters, Hayli and Emma Case; grandson, Weston Paul Case; his mother, Jane Riggs of Clifton; and brother, Russell Riggs and wife, Lisa, of Clifton.

John Kenneth Wigington

John Kenneth Wigington, age 39, died on Saturday, July 4, 2015 due to a heart condition. He was born August 29, 1975 in Arlington, Texas, to James “Jim” and Earlene Wigington. He was a 1994 graduate of Cranfills Gap High School and went on to earn his LVN from Hill College. He married Kelli Adler on October 6, 2012, in Waco. John was employed at the Valley Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, making knives, collecting guns, mowing (not so much weed-eating), and most of all spending time with his family. John is lovingly remembered by his wife Kelli of Clifton; parents Jim and Kippi Wigington of Clifton; brother Steven and wife Deborah Wigington of New Braunfels; brother Phillip and wife Heather Wigington of Crowley; sister Micki and husband Chris Evans of Clifton; loving companion “Whitey Bitey”: and loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.Services will be held at 10 A.M.

Ferlin Odell Colwick

Lifelong Bosque County resident Ferlin Odell Colwick, age 80, passed away June 14, 2015 in Waco at St. Catherine’s Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at the First United Methodist Church of Cranfills Gap at 10:30 A.M. A graveside service will be held at Boggy Cemetery at a later date. Ferlin was born on June 29, 1934 in the Boggy Community hear Cranfills Gap to Belford and Mabel Anderson Colwick. Ferlin graduated from Cranfills Gap High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in January of 1954 and served honorably until discharged in October of 1957. He returned to Cranfills Gap where he farmed and ranched for most of his life, becoming a carpenter later in life. Ferlin and his old trucks were a fixture around Cranfills Gap, and he will be remembered for the generosity he bestowed on many friends over the last few years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Belford and Mabel, his brothers Gene and Ray Colwick, and his nephew Steve Colwick.

Dorothy Taylor Manly

Dorothy Taylor Manly, a longtime resident, enthusiastic community servant  nd Church of Christ volunteer in  lifton, passed away on June 14, 2015 in Anaheim Hills, CA at the age of 88 years.Her husband, Hollis Lee Manly, Jr, preceded Dot in death. Her sister Bobbye Taylor Ferrell of Fort Smith, AK also preceded Dorothy in death.  Dot was the daughter of Edwin Boyce and Mary Nance Taylor from Parkin, AR. Dot graduated from Abilene Christian University and was a member of Delta Theta Sorority. She met Hollis at ACU and they married in 1947. After living in Houston and Dallas they retired to Clifton where Dot was a co-founder of the Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels and volunteered at the Bosque Museum. Three daughters, Melissa, Mary and Holly, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, survive her.

Charles Milton McDonald

Longtime Waco attorney Charles Milton McDonald, 86, of Clifton, passed away Thursday, June 11,2015 in Whitney. His life was celebrated at a graveside service on Saturday, June 20 at Waco Memorial Park. Charles was born Nov. 2, 1928 in Temple, to Herman Milton and Lillian(Ratliff) McDonald. He graduatedfrom Waco High School in 1946 and Baylor University in 1958, earning a combined degree. Three years ago, he was inducted into the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Hall of Fame, becoming only the second lawyer from McLennan County to receive the honor, and the 56th lawyer to enter the hall of fame. He also served as a TCDLA president and board member after helping establish the association in 1971. Charles represented thousands of clients across the country in the more than 54 years he practiced law. Not only was Charles a dedicated lawyer, he and his late wife Kathy loved to travel the world.
