Carolyn Jermstad Smith, 78, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Dallas after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 4p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Rock Church Cemetery in Cranfills Gap with Rebecca Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be at Clifton Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 pm.. Carolyn Jermstad was born in Bosque County to Selmer and Hannah Jernstad on Aug. 12, 1936. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. She was educated in Cranfills Gap school. She married Johnie Smith Jr. on Jan. 31, 1955. She was a member of First Lutheran in Waco. A long time resident of Waco, she worked as a project demonstrator for several grocery stores. Those who knew her cherished her friendship and her strong Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters and three brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Denise Self of Waco, Rhonda Owens and husband, Shane of Dallas; one brother, Jimmie Germstad of Temple; and one niece, three nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, 1008 Jefferson Ave., Waco TX 76701. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
