Funeral services for Jerry Vaughn Billington, 68, of Clifton, were held at Top Hand Cowboy Church on Aug 16, 2014, with Pastor Greg Moore officiating. Interment was at the Evans Cemetery. Billington was born on April 13, 1946, in Plainview, to Orville Billington and Willie Edna Brown Billington. He passed away in Temple on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014. He attended schools in Lockney, TX. On Sept. 8, 1980, he married Carolyn Billington in Meridian. The couple had four children. Billington had lived in various places, including Lone Star, Burleson, Muskogee OK, and Clifton and had worked as a manager at various food operations including Ralston Purina, Cargill, Plantation Foods and Willowbrook Foods. He served in the U.S. Army, 25th Infantry, Reserves, and in the Vietnam war where he received two Bronze Stars. His hobbies included being a Texas Ranger fan and computers. He was a major supervisor of every activity that he or anyone else was engaged in. He was humorous, caring and loving. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Willie Edna Billington. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Tara Billington, Tonya Brown, Shelley Evans, and son, Tray Lewis; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Billington, Tray Lewis, Chris Evans, Brent Synder David Evans, and Jesse Puente. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
