Funeral services for Jewel Blanche Finstad were held at Boggy Cemetery on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 with Pastor Joan Iker officiating. A resident at Lutheran Sunset Ministries, Jewel Finstad passed away at the Sunset Home on Thursday, Aug. 7. Jewel Blanche Sparks was born on Sept. 29, 1921, in the Norse area of Bosque County, to James A Sparks Sr. and Ida Grimland Sparks. She attended Turkey Creek School and Norse School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. On Sept. 28, 1943 she married Edgar Clarence Finstad in Clifton. The couple had four children. She retired from Walls Manufacturing and enjoyed needlework and being an antiques dealer. She also enjoyed gardening, puzzles and bingo. She was a straight forward, loving mom and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeff; and brothers Wilbur, Burton, James Jr., Roscoe; Owen Sparks; and sister, Gertrude Gaustad. Survivors include son, John Finstad; dauthers, Judy and Rudy Johnson; Janey and Danny Ivey; grandsons, Darrell Ivey, Rob and Carol Ivey; Jay and Cierra Johnson; Will MacKenzie; granddaughters, Darla Woods, Debbie Johnson, Jona Finstad, Dana Jorgenson, and Mandy Ringo; and 16 great-grandchildren; also brother, Merrell Sparks and sister, Ima Sorley. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
