Maxine Reese Welch Wood, 90, of Clifton, passed away on July 11, 2014. A memorial service was held on July 19, 2014, at Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church in Laguna Park with Father Michael Heidt officiating. She was born in Mabank and graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas. She was married to E.L. Ned Welch for 42 years until his death in 1989. Her second husband, John E. Wood, to whom she was married for 11 years, preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Anjannette Welch in 1995. Maxine’s greatest treasure was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who embraced both the joys and sorrows of her life. Gardening was her passion and nature her inspiration. She is survived by her two sons, Ned Welch and wife, Sheila of Clifton, and Marc Welch and wife, Linda, of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Megan Welch, Bethany Vanderhider and husband, David, Jake Welch and wife, Meagan; and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Leah Vanderhider. She is also survived by a brother, Elmo Reese and wife, Claire of Houston and their family. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Episcopal Church or Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
