Rebecca Fay (Rouse) Purvis Schlegel, age 98, of Clifton passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton. Graveside services were held Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Atwell Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie White officiating. Fay was born on May 10, 1916 to William Clyde and Harriet Elizabeth (Cave) Rouse in Callahan County, TX. She completed high school and attended college for a while. She married Ambrose Glynn Purvis on Nov. 18, 1933. They were blessed with two children, Randall Purvis and Glenda Bateman. Fay and Glynn were married for 62 years. Glynn was a minister and Fay played and taught piano. Glynn preceded her in death in 1995, Fay, ever the caregiver married her second husband N.L Schlegel, they were married for a year and a half before he preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Bateman and husband, Kenneth of Meridian; daughter-in-law, Glenda Purvis of Strawn; four grandchildren, Korey, Kimberly, Richie, and Randy, and nine great-grandchildren, Parker, Billie, and Eli Bateman, Sarah and Landon Bope, Ashley and Christopher Purvis, Matthew and Megan Purvis; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, A.G. Purvis and N.L. Schlegel and son Randall Purvis, three brothers and one sister. Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains in charge of arrangements.
