Hans “Jake” Wimberly, 75, passed into eternal life on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Clifton. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with interment at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery. Wimberly was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Cranfills Gap, to Buster and Vada Wimberly. He graduated from Granfills Gap High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Joann, on May 30, 1959. Wimberly taught in McGregor and Clifton for a total of 38 years before his retirement in 1998. He taught science, wood shop and coached. Although retired, he continued to sub at Cranfills gap, Whitney, and Valley Mills. He loved everything about teaching, but mostly, the kids. Operation Orphans is an organization that he supported for over 40 years. He served as a guide and director for many years before becoming the “chief” cook for hunting and fishing weekends. Helping to support foster children through Operation Orphans was something he cherished dearly. Jake was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church serving in many capacities over the years. He was also a member of Bosque County Retired Teachers’ Association. He volunteered and served Bosque County in many ways. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Leldon Christenson, N.D. Hopkins, Ed Gann, Billy Gann, and R.L. Gann. Survivors include his wife, Joann; two sons, Billy and wife, Gail of Valley Mills, and Ronny and wife, Andrea of Whitney; grandchildren, Brooke Bartels and husband, Lance, and Autumn Wimberly, all of Valley Mills; Robin Wimberly of Whitney and her fiancé, Stephen Boyle of Clifton, and Kendell Wimberly of Whitney; brothers, Cecil Wimberly and wife, June of Glen Rose, Cloyse “Bub” Wimberly and wife, Sue of Gatesville; sisters, Betty Hopkins of Grand Prairie, Norma Duncan and husband, Dunc of Denison, Ida Moore and husband, Billy Joe, of Meridian, and Lois “Sis” Ballard and husband, Robert of Paris; and many nieces and nephews. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
