Funeral services for Stanley Dean Gaskamp, 64, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Herb Lammert officiating. Burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Gaskamp was born on Oct. 27, 1949, in Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton to parents, Alfred Gaskamp and Earline Symank Gaskamp. As an infant, he was brought for baptism at St. James Lutheran Church at Mosheim, and later reaffirmed his faith and was confirmed at St. Paul’s in Crawford. He attended Valley Mills schools and graduated in 1969. After graduation, Stanley went to work at Sormrude’s Grocery in Clifton. He also worked at David’s Supermarket and Brookshires, as well as at the Lutheran Sunset Ministries. His last job was in Whitney at TRX Inc. where he worked until he retired in December 2012. While the family lived in the Hurst Springs area, he was a member of the Turnersville Volunteer Fire Department. In June, 2013, he was diagnosed with serosis of the liver, but he continued as he said, “one day at a time.” On Feb. 19, he had surgery for a hernia at Providence Hospital in Waco. His condition worsened and he passed away in the early morning hours of Feb. 23, at the hospital. He was a friendly, fun-loving person and had many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred, and a brother, Douglas. Survivors include his mother, Earline Gaskamp, several aunts, one uncle, and several cousins. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
