After he retired from the Air Force, they returned to Clifton. He worked as a supervisor at Chemical Lime until he retired after 18 years. Upon retirement, he devoted himself to his grandchildren. They were his greatest pride and joy. He loved his family and took pride in everything they did. Alfred was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton. The family later transferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church. While at Our Saviors, he served as a trustee for two terms. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Alice Landua, and brothers, Jodie, Alton, Raymond, Irving, David, Daniel and John. Survivors include his wife, Chieko Iha Amundson; brother, James; daughter, Alice Brewer and husband, Rodney; son, Alan and wife, Shanna; and grandchildren, Austin and Emily Brewer and Aaron and Kaitlyn Amundson; and many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces; and great-great nephews and nieces.
