Donald Ray Holditch

Funeral services for Donald Ray Holditch, 81, of Clifton, were held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at Zion United Church with the Rev. Buck Malone officiating. Holditch was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Italy, TX, to Lela Mae MacMitcham and Charles Holditch. He passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, in Clifton. He attended Blooming Grove high School, graduating in 1951, and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1953. In June 2000, he married Mary Brown. After leaving Blooming Grove, he was in the Army and lived in Oklahoma, Georgia, Germany and Tennessee. While serving in the Army, Don received two Bronze Stars, certificate of participation in Operation Plumbbob, commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky; and eight-time Good Conduct Medal. He served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. After retiring from the Army, Don worked for John Harwick Financial. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golf, gardening, and feeding birds. Don was a dedicated husband, father, and Shriner. He was a great example of giving back to the community. Survivors include his wife, Mary; brother, Charles and wife, Martha; children, Carl and wife, Shirley of Colorado Springs; Greg and wife, Katy of Phoenix; Rebecca and husband, Steve of Raleigh NC; and John and Robert Holditch of Phoenix AZ; and Clinton Brown of Austin, Kristen Brown Cogburn of Houston; grandchildren, Vince, David, Zane, Sarah, Helen, Jessica, Karlie, Joshua, Eva, Keller.
