Funeral services for Billy A. Rea are being held today, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Clifton with Pastor Justus Reed officiating. Interment will be at Clifton Memorial Park. Billy Rea passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Stoney Brook Assisted Living Senior Care. He was born on Jan. 26, 1924, in Pottsville to William A Rea and Alma C. Wied. Rea married Bess Ivey Cummins in 1954 in Dallas. The couple had three children. Rea had lived in Pottsville, Forth Worth, Lamesa, Dallas, Lancaster, Richardson, Clifton and Hewitt. His occupation included working for Southwestern Dailies, Inc.; the Dallas Morning News 1955-1969; publisher of Travel Magazine and Amusement Today. He was a member of the Lutheran Church at Pottsville, First Christian Church of Lancaster, First Christian Church at Richardson, and First United Methodist Church in Clifton. He was a 32 degree Mason. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant, Radio Operator in C-47s, in the Pacific Theater. His hobbies included publishing war stories for the WWII magazine, golf, travel and flying. He was a great story teller. He loved football and baseball and loved to talk about sixman football. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bess; sons, Sandy and Andy; and brothers, Wilford and James Rea. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Arbaugh and Wayne Arbaugh of Hewitt; sister, Mary Bergman of Clifton; grandchildren, Jana Buckley of Virginia, Billy Rea II of Corpus Christi, Kriste O’Shea of California, Huck Arbaugh of Richardson, Dr. Jason Arbaugh of Austin, and Dr. Jesse Arbaugh of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Samantha, Kyle, Tyler, Corey, Devin, Taryn, Lexailee, and Dayton; and a huge extended family and friends. Pallbears are Paul Rea, Hubert Lytle, Adrian Dwaine, Ratrick Giese, Gary Bergman and Gary Slade. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
