Carrol Jean Harvey

Funeral services for Carrol Jean Harvey, 80, of Clifton were held Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment was at Clifton Memorial Cemetery. Carrol Jean White was born on Dec. 9, 1933, in the Fairview community to Jack White and Carrah Rice Duncan. She passed away on Jan. 28, 2014, at the Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility in Clifton. She attended schools in Valley Mills (1940-41), Corpus Christi (1941-44), and Clifton (1944-48). She had lived in Clifton since 1945. On Sept. 17, 1948, she married Ernest Elmo Harvey in Valley Mills. The couple had three children. She had worked as a seamstress and supervisor at Wall’s Manufacturing in Clifton for 25 years, and had worked at The Clifton Record. A member of First Baptist Church, Carrol Harvey was a Sunday School teacher, training union, and WMU leader. She was also a member of the Clifton Civic Society and AARP. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, at the Clifton Food Bank and at the Clifton Clothes Closet. She enjoyed coin collecting and rock collecting. She served the church and the community as “a quiet servant.” Survivors include her husband, Ernest Harvey; sons, Larry Harvey of Clifton, Kenneth Harvey of Southlake Tahoe CA, and Lonnie Harvey of Brandon MS; sister, Peggy Moore of Schulenburg; grandchildren, Shelly Carpenter of Meridian, Jennifer Harvey of Clifton, Brad Harvey of Canyon Lake, Erin Harvey of Southlake Tahoe CA, Samantha Harvey of New Braunfels, and Amber Harvey of Brandon MS; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Brad Harvey, Dax Gann, Larry Harvey, Kenneth Harvey, Lonnie Harvey and Fred Low. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clifton or Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility of Clifton. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
