William “Bill” Cline, 78, of Clifton, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. A graveside service officiated by Terry Williams was held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Clifton Memorial Cemetery. Cline was born on Aug. 24, 1935. After several years of working in the oil industry with his father, he was employed by the Union Carbide Corporation in 1957, with a career extending approximately 30 years in the operations and as a production specialist. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing golf at Bosque Valley Club and numerous courses across the country. He was a member of the Clifton Church of Christ. He will be truly missed by family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Beatrice Cline; and four siblings. Survivors include his wife of 59½ years, Betty Williams Cline; daughters, Debbie Dean and husband, Keith; and Diane Douglas and husband, David; grandchildren, Keith Dean Jr. and wife, Caroline, Kristopher Dean and wife, Connie, and Chelsea Ballard and husband, Donnie; great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashlyn Dean, Kayleigh and Kolton Dean, and Lanie Ballard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers were sons-in-law, grandsons, and husband of granddaughter. Honorary pallbearers were Glendale Jones and Taylor Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to Clifton Church of Christ or the South Texas Children’s Home in San Antonio. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arraignments.
