Alvin L. Dahl

Alvin L. (Al) Dahl passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. There will be a graveside service at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Clifton. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m., at Clifton Funeral Home prior to the service. In addition there will be a memorial service at First United Methodist Church in Plano on Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. Pastor Alice Coder will be officiating at both services. Dahl was born on March 12, 1942, in Clifton. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1960. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Tyler Junior College in 1964, a BBA from the University of Texas in 1966, and a MA from UT Dallas in 1992. He began his career working in the financial industry after graduation and became the president of First Savings of East Texas in San Augustine, and then president of Collin County Savings and Loan in Plano. From 1980 to 1991, he was a custom home building and developer and then later becam the vice president of Development for American Diversitified Capital Corp. From 1992 to present he was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant. He was a past-president of both the West Longview Rotary and the Sunrise Toast Masters. He was also a past deacon of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Longview and a current member of First United Methodist Church in Plano. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Lynn Dahl; parents, Peder A. Dahl and Willie Mae Dahl; brother, Hendrick James Dahl; and stepson, Jeffrey Wewerda. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Dahl of Plano; daughter Lori Waples and husband, Rusty of Cypress; stepson, Craig Wewerka of Dallas; stepdaughter-in-law Angela Werwerka of Plano; brother, Laurence P Dahl and wife, Martha of New Braunfels; grandchildren, Brett Waples and nick Waples of Cypress; and Allison and Anna Wewerka of Dallas; and nephews, Eric Dahl and Ryan Dahl of San Antonio; and a large host of dear friends.
