MES wraps up with play day
By Simone Wichers-Voss
After a year of keeping their noses to the grindstone, Meridian Elementary School students got a chance to let off steam during their annual Play Day.
On May 28, the school campus was abuzz with activity: kids in bounce houses; kids playing with hoola-hoops and blowing bubbles; kids playing blind beach volley ball; playing giant bowling in the halls or having tugs-of-war.
Teachers and staff wore brightly colored T-shirts depicting the feel of the day “Happy, Happy, Happy.”
After a week of STAAR testing at the end of April, this day was a fun and welcome close to the school year, keeping the smiles on the students’ faces all day.
The inflatable bounce houses were supplied by Big Kahuna, the school’s fundraising partner.
