Joe F. Cannon, age 75, of Meridian, passed away Saturday morning, March 23, 2012, in Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. David Booker officiating. Joe was born April 12, 1937, in Lufkin. He was son of the late John Frank Cannon and Mary Lou Sammons Cannon. He was raised in Crockett, where he finished school in 1955 and on July 23 of that year, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Krenek. Joe and his wife later moved to Huntsville where they both worked in the prison system. Joe became a Texas Game Warden in 1962 and his first assignment was in Tarrant County. In 1967, he was assigned to Bosque County where he worked until 1979. He and his wife worked in the oil and gas leasing business for several years, then they owned and operated Meridian Floral until retirement. Joe was a member of the Meridian Masonic Lodge and was a Master Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite, on June 18, 2006. He is survived by his sons, Joey Cannon of Meridian, Mark Cannon and wife, Kim, of Meridian, and Mike Cannon and wife, Rhonda, of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Amanda and Anthony Rodriguez, Ashley and Byron Gray, Andrea Cannon, Olivia Gann and husband, Cody, Justin Cannon, Tyler Cannon, Kayla Henderson and husband, Heath, Brazos Cannon, Merrisa Turner and Matthew Sonnier; six great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
