BARK Gala deemed huge success

Several major supporters of BARK Delma and Glen Chesshir visit with Jim Brosche (center) during the annual BARK Gala held Saturday at the Bosque Arts Center.
Judy Gremminger and Nancy Benda both agreed that the huge BARK Gala held Saturday at the Tin Building Theatre, was a "huge success," with supporters from everywhere showing up to help the local Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels.
Approximately 160 persons showed up for the dinner, auction, and dance, with 180 tickets sold prior to the event.
The annual event hosted the "free" toys and accessories for pets at the door along with many tables full of silent auction items that ranged from unique jewelry, to oil changes, with an abundance of baskets full of wine, treats, and even chocolate.

Silent auction of Hallmark original to benefit Museum

George Hallmark (right) presented an original oil painting of the Rock Chruch to George Larson to be offered in silent auction at the Museum's Mardi Gras event on Feb. 18. The painting is on display at the Museum until the event.
In the summer of 2011 George Hallmark, nationally recognized Bosque County artist was approached by his friend, Bernie Dutton, who was at that time Curator at the Bosque Museum, about painting a backdrop for the wildlife exhibit to open in the fall. Hallmark suggested that a large photographic background photo of an actual beaver dam would be more appropriate. In exchange Hallmark offered to paint an oil painting of a historic site in Bosque County to be used to benefit the museum.

BCSO captures Hood County murder suspect

On January 17, 2012 at approximately 6 p.m., the Bosque County Sheriff's Office was notified by Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds that an armed murder suspect was possibly staying at the Circle M Motel in Meridian, Texas.
Sheriff Malott activated the Bosque County Sheriff's Office, Special Response Team to prepare for a high-risk felony apprehension of the armed murder suspect. The team was able to determine the suspect's location and make the arrest inside the Subway sandwich shop without further incident.

Annual Booster Club pancake supper

The CISD Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual pancake supper, silent auction, and pancake eating contests throughout the evening of Jan. 31, when both the Lady Cubs and Cubs will be taking to the basketball court against the Whitney Wildcats.
They will start serving pancakes at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria, and the silent auction will be open from 5 p.m. to the end of the Lady Cubs' game.
Tickets which can be purchased at the door will cost $6 for adults, $3 for children, with those two and under eating free.

Cubs fall to Grandview, Keene

During action on Friday, Connor Albrecht leaps all the way to the net for two against Keene.
Despite working their way to 68 points, the Cubs were unable to catch up to Grandview last Tuesday, taking a 68-73 loss in the fourth quarter [150] at the end of the third quarter, the Cubs were on top 49-47.
Three point shots were made by R.L. Pilcher, Zach Gloff , Zach Thiele and Cody Franklin, while one or more two point shots were sunk by Kyler Kleibrink, Connor Albreacht, R.L. Pilcher, Zach Thiele, John Pinkerton, and Cody Franklin.
The team made 52-percent on their free throws, including those made by Kleibrink, Albreacht, Pilcher, Gloff, Thiele, Pinkerton, and Franklin.

Weekly highs and lows

Over the past two weeks I've talked to hundreds of people and found out some good things and some not so good things going on in the county [150] yes, this is my job but sometimes it gets to where you don't want to hear the news or, on the other hand, it can be really fun.
One of the most interesting periods was the 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., traveling all over the county to take pictures of those who work the "graveyard" shift for all of us. Those at the sheriff's office were wide awake and smiling in
